ATLAS OF THE LABORATORIES OF ARCHITECTURE

AN INTERACTIVE DATABASE

The Atlas of the Laboratories of Architecture is an interactive database compiling all the laboratories that have been active in the field of architecture since the emergence of the phenomenon in the late 19th century. With over 200 detailed references, this geographical and historical cartography is a first step towards better understanding the complex figure that is the architectural laboratory and the dynamics that have forged its first iterations and successive transformations.

This research project is led by Bechara Helal, Assistant Professor at the School of Architecture of the Université de Montréal and member of the Laboratoire d'Étude de l'Architecture Potentielle [LEAP]. It has been made possible by a research grant provided by the Fonds de Recherche du Québec en Sciences - Société et Culture [FRQSC].

The Atlas is currently in the process of being finalized and will be made available online by summer 2024.
